Education system in Germany Tradition of training in Germany - one of the most ancient in Europe.
The most ancient German higher school - university in Heidelberg - has been based in 1386. Many high schools of Germany have already noted 500 summer anniversaries, including known universities in Leipzig (it is based in 1409) and in Rostock (is based in 1419). Along with them there are absolutely young higher educational institutions, more than 20 from them are based after 1960 In 19 century and in first half of 20 centuries for universities the ideal of educational level which Wilhelm aspired to reach a background Humboldt - the known reformer of Prussian high schools of last century - at the Berlin university based in 1810 was defining. To the Second World War to students of this university taught Albert Einstein, Max Planck and Max Veber. During the same period Germans have received 10 of 45 Nobel Prizes in area of physics and 16 of 40 - in the field of chemistry. In modern German system of higher education universities of three types are presented.
The first - the classical "old" universities, which history originates in the Middle Ages. It is the Heidelberg university, universities in Frejburge, Tjubingene and a number of other cities. Originally their structure included only philosophical, medical and theological faculties. Eventually other directions of preparation were added also, but these faculties remained leaders. Now the modern German university is the scientific and educational centre with very wide spectrum of faculties and specialities.
The second type are universities which have received the status in the course of transformation of technical and other branch high schools. For example, the higher technical school in Hanover in 1968 has received the status of technical university, and then, in 1978, has been transformed to university. To this group (Technische Universitaeten) and equal technical universities concern them under the status the higher technical schools (Technische Hochschulen) in Ahene and Darmstadt also. The border between technical universities and simply universities is often conditional: so, the university in Rostock has technical faculty, and, for example, at technical university Karolo-Vilgelmina in Braunshvajge there are branches humanitarian and social studies. However as a whole for these universities a little cut down set of faculties assuming preparation on technical, is natural-mathematical, economic and medical specialities is characteristic.
The third type of universities - the high schools which have arisen last 30-40 years on peak of prompt development of system of higher education inGermany. It is the Ruhr university in Bochum, universities in Constance, Regensburg, Bielefeld, other new universities and private high schools. All of them (perhaps, except for university in Bochum) cannot compete to classical universities on a variety of directions of preparation. But in them experiments on introduction of modern methods of training are conducted, they often have campuses that as a whole is not characteristic for German high schools. At such universities the great attention is given to a practical training. Conventional and invariable to this day the purpose of a policy in the field of the higher school there is an availability of high schools to all young men. Germany - the country deprived of natural resources. A basis of economic stability for it are high quality experts, therefore to an education sphere the huge attention is paid: Constantly assignments for training increase, new high schools open, there are new educational profiles, training process is guided by work on a speciality more and more. The German diplomas and certificates are recognised in the European community and all over the world. On appeal to foreign students Germany divides withGreat Britain the second place in the world after the USA.
