Education in Czech Republic

From 7 to 10 years old Czech children learn in elementary school.

From 11 to 19 years they receive a secondary education in the public schools or, on request, after graduating from high school, from 16 to 19 years old receive secondary vocational education in colleges: medical, pedagogical, legal, etc. After high school or college, you can pass the matriculation exams. Who have passed a test are eligible to enroll in a university or other higher education institution.

Universities in the Czech Republic are divided into universities, institutes and academies. According to the Law on Higher Education Universities have the right to call only those universities that prepare candidates and doctors of sciences. By academies are higher education institutions that provide higher education in the field of literature, culture and arts.

Higher education institutions in the Czech Republic are divided into public and commercial. State - as a rule, old, solid and practically free schools, which have a solid financial base and experienced teachers. They are preparing a bachelors (3 years) and masters (5 years). In connection with the forthcoming accession of the Czech Republic into the European Union they are actively improving the composition and content of the subjects taught, taking into account the pan-European requirements, which greatly improves the quality of education offered by them. This reflects their striking contrast to the state universities of the CIS countries, only gradually improving its education policy. All commercial universities - it has recently (1-3 years ago), formed by schools, training students in the main to the Bachelor level (3 years). Education in them - are paid. These higher education institutions are the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic the compulsory certification on the quality of education, however their main weakness is the level of education represented students.
